1.  OVERVIEW

1.1 Outreach/Community Building – The Chabad Mommy and Me Jr. Day Camp Project will provide expectant and current Jewish mothers and their toddlers with an avenue for meaningful exploration and participation in Jewish life and community discussions and activities. The Chabad Mommy and Me Jr. Day Camp program will:

· Strengthen Jewish identity and health amongst mothers and their children

· Strengthen Jewish identity and health amongst expectant mothers

· Target population(s): Mothers and their children ages 2 - 5 and expectant Jewish Mothers

· Provide Mothers and their children with hands on use of Jewish games and other educational and learning tools for children

· Provide Leadership Opportunities: Because the meeting themes and subjects will be chosen by the group, leadership opportunities will be made available. This program will help develop future Jewish leaders in three ways. First, it will help mothers by providing an outlet once a week, in which to share information and ideas with other Jewish mothers. Second, it will help future Jewish Leaders understand their past. Third, it will help Jewish women who are expecting, or attempting to have children.

· Be Acceptable to Outlying Areas: This program will be open to all Jewish families in the Greater Sacramento Region. As such, the meeting locations and activities will take place in and around the greater Sacramento area.

· Attract the Unaffiliated: The Chabad Mommy and Me Jr. Day Camp program is designed to work with both the affiliated and unaffiliated in our community. We have several plans on how to attract the unaffiliated, with the largest being creating attending ‘fairs’, including wedding expositions.

· Enhance awareness of community activities: this program will help women during a vital 5 year period – the year before birth and 5 years after. As such, we hope to provide attendees with Halacic avenues in which to understand Jewish Birth and Womanhood, while helping them learn about Jewish culture and education rituals

· Provide support services to families/individuals in need or crisis

· Provide women, possibly for the first time, with the ability to uphold Talmudic Code by immersing themselves in a Mikvah.

1.2. Jewish Learning and Culture –The Chabad Mommy and Me Jr. Day Camp. program will help expand educational, cultural, and artistic involvement, projects and programs within the greater Jewish continuity. To accomplish this, we will be emphasizing Talmudic education for families and children (future Jewish leaders).

1.3. Social Justice and Human Needs – This program will combine activities dealing with social action and volunteerism.

  • The  time will be from 9AM to 1PM
  • The first month’s meetings will be organizational, and help us develop where the programs will be in the future (it is expected and anticipated that we will meet throughout the Sacramento region. Meeting locations will include, but not be limited to: organized event locations (like the zoo), private homes and Jewish facilities

9.  Continuity:  Funding Expended:  Continuity for this program will continue once initial funding goals have been achieved – in other words, we are hoping that the Federation will help get us “up and running” and that once happens, we will be working with community leaders to find alternative sources of income (Sponsorships).
